Remembrance Day is an annual event observed by British people around the world when we remember all those who have died serving their country in wars and the sacrifice that they have made. The symbol of this special day is the poppy, which is sold to raise money for war veterans.
In Acorns we have adapted this special day in order to meet the needs of our community. It has become a tradition in Acorns, for us to sell poppies (from the British Embassy) and to donate money raised to help the families of soldiers killed in Afghanistan or Irak.
On this special day, the children found out what it means to be brave, why it is important to be courageous.
